The small mirror-less cameras have the advantage in size compared with the regular big boys. But there are some reasons that they still cannot edge out the smaller-sensor serious compacts (sc) or the DSLRs as they lack:
1) the deeper depth of field (vs. sc; important for street photographers)
2) a pocketable size (vs. sc)
3) the convenience of no lenses changing (vs. sc)
4) an excellent focusing performance (vs. DSLR)
5) a good gripping (vs. DSLR)
6) the good weight balance between the lens and the camera body (vs. DSLR)
These are the general observations after the hands-on with the several mirror-less cameras.

I often drop by your blog, reading and enjoying your stunning and impressive photos; ponder and digest your remarks on recent popular so-called "evil" cameras while riding my bicycle from time to time. I have to confess that I am still a beginner in photography. Inevitably driven by those cutting-edge gadgets , I often let myself be haunted by the capabilities of the cameras. With somewhat feelings of vanity, I always focus on the property of a camera , neglecting as usual the real purposes and the meanings for the photography. Anyway, I am often inspired and touched by your insights reflecting on the street shootings.
Wishing you a happy new year!

Sorry that you were made to type your comments three times which the comment moderation list showed. Sometimes some nasty people leave malicious and porn links in the comment box; so I have to activate the comment moderation.
I am greatly flattered by your remarks. You really made my day, thank you.
Although you said that you're new in photography, I'm sure that you can improve and do well soon if you keep practising. Every expert was a beginner at first.
On the capabilities of cameras, fact is, I've found myself primarily using the combination of M mode, 3:2 or 16:9 format and ISO value upto 800, regardless of whatever the "unique" functions the cameras (that have been reviewed here) boost. The constraint remains in our knowledge about how to play with the light and shadows.
Thank you for visiting again and wish you a happy new year!
Best,
Nevin
